SSC Peer Leader - Supplemental Instruction

This job posting is for the Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader position within the Student Success Center (SSC). 

This application is for Candidates who are Undergraduate students.

Note: If you are applying for more than one student leader position within the SSC, you must complete each Qualtrics form. They are NOT the same.  

 

Requirements:  

Undergraduate with an overall GPA of a 3.0. 

Received an A- or higher in the course interested in leading. If taken Spring 2020 or later, CR will be accepted. 

Taken the course at UT Dallas. 

Attend mandatory in-person Fall Kickoff the Friday before classes start, August 21, 2026 

A requirement of new peer leaders will be to take additional in-person training classes on September 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 (both Sundays from 1-3pm). 

Attend a on-boarding appointment by the Career Center which is separate from the SSC mandatory meetings. The Career Center background check and on-boarding appointment is a requirement for employment. 

Individuals hired for the position are expected to work on campus and face-to-face with students. Adaptability to work in a hybrid or remote environment is required if needed. 

Preferred qualification: Candidates graduating Spring 2027 or later who have experience with SI. 

Job Description:   

SI (Supplemental Instruction):  

· Lead weekly session(s) in one SI-supported subject 

· Attend weekly meetings  

· Prepare thoroughly for sessions each week  

· Attend class lecture(s) throughout the week  

· Attend all required training  

· Consistent communication with faculty  

· Hours per week: 9 hours per week  

  

Leader Competencies:  

· Ability to lead a group of diverse students  

· Ability to facilitate group work  

· Ability to create a team environment  

· Ability to establish rapport with students  

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively  

  

Note: Students are not be able to work as a SI Leader and a paid undergraduate assistant (TA) or paid research lab assistant in the same semester. Students also cannot hold two concurrent hourly jobs on campus.
