SSC Peer Leader - Peer Tutoring
This job posting is for an on-campus position as a tutor in the Peer Tutoring program in Fall 2026. Pay starts at $14/hr. Only undergraduate students are eligible for this position. Peer Tutoring operates within The Student Success Center (SSC), currently located in the Eugene McDermott Library, room MC 1.304.

Tutors must tutor at least one of the following subjects (both I and II for those applicable):
- Calculus I & II
- Physics I & II
- Organic Chemistry I & II
- General Chemistry I & II
- Linear Algebra (MATH 2418)
Additional subjects tutors can support are: Advanced Calculus (MATH 3351), Differential Equations (MATH 2420), Statics (MECH 2310/BMEN 2320), Dynamics (MECH 2330), Thermodynamics (MECH 3310), BioChemistry I (BIOL/CHEM 3461), ENGR/CS/SE/STAT 3341, ENGR 3300, Statistics for Life Sciences (STAT 2332), Introductory Biomechanics (BMEN 3399), and others.
Application/ Interview Process:
- February- Submit Handshake application with most recent transcript. An unofficial transcript will suffice.

- March- Qualifying applicants will be invited via UTD e-mail to take an in-person content exam for the course(s) they wish to tutor.
- March/April- Applicants who pass their content exam(s) are invited to interview in-person with the Professional Program Manager and participate in a mock tutoring session with Peer Tutoring Team Leader Student Employees.
- April- Applicants are notified of decision via UTD e-mail.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate UTD student with an overall GPA of a 3.0.
- Attend an onboarding appointment by the Career Center in May, prior to Summer Break. This is separate from the below trainings and a requirement for employment.
- Attend mandatory in-person tutor training on August 21, 2026.
- Attend mandatory in-person CRLA trainings on September 20th and October 18, 2026 from 1-3pm.
- Individuals hired for the position are expected to work on campus and face-to-face with students. Adaptability to work in a hybrid or remote environment is required if needed.
- Preferred qualification: Candidates graduating May 2027 or later.
Job Description:
- Facilitate student learning to better understand and apply course content
- Work in a fast-paced environment
- Time commitment: about 4-12 hours per week. Same schedule each week for the full semester.
- Complete brief SSC Overview class visits at the beginning of each semester (time commitment of 1 hour)

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Note: Students are not able to work as a peer tutor and a paid undergraduate assistant (TA) or paid research lab assistant in the same semester. Students also cannot hold two concurrent hourly jobs on campus.
